FROM ACCESS TO APPLICATION: NBSC LRC EMPOWERS BSBA STUDENTS IN USING DIGITAL DATABASES EFFECTIVELY
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its Learning Resource Center (LRC), conducted a comprehensive library instruction program on November 11, 2025, for the four sections of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) students enrolled in the Business Research course.
The activity aimed to strengthen students’ research capabilities by familiarizing them with the LRC’s physical and digital resources. Participants were introduced to the Center’s four key online subscriptions—Gale Research Complete, Philippine E-Journals, ProQuest Central, and Zendy—which serve as valuable tools for accessing credible academic literature.
Throughout the session, students received practical guidance on navigating these databases to locate, assess, and retrieve scholarly materials relevant to their respective research topics. A hands-on workshop was also conducted to reinforce proper citation and referencing techniques based on the APA 7th edition format. This segment allowed participants to practice creating bibliographies and applying accurate in-text citations, promoting academic integrity and the ethical use of information.
By integrating theory with practice, the initiative provided students with essential information literacy skills fundamental to producing well-grounded academic research. Overall, the session underscored NBSC’s commitment to cultivating research excellence and fostering responsible scholarship among its learners.
